Adjusting to God’s Direction

Wise Christians adapt themselves to circumstances God directs as water shapes itself to the vessel that contains it.

We, as Christians, are to be prepared for a new direction from God at any time. You never know when God is going to place a person, situation or mission in our path for ministry. We become more fluid and more usable when God can count on us to do His will. Please pray that you and I will be ready to recognize these assignments when they present themselves.

Divorce Recovery Workshop - A Place for Healing

Divorce shatters our world of predictability…gone is routine, a relationship, and that which is familiar. Forest Park’s Divorce Recovery Workshops provide the healing it takes to cope with what has happened by learning how to regain self-esteem, establish trust once again, and learn new relationship building skills.

Will you pray for the folks that are registered for the Divorce Recovery Workshop? Invite anyone you know that has been through a divorce (no matter how long ago), is currently going through a divorce, or contemplating divorce to attend the workshop. Please pray specifically that they will find the healing, comfort, and love that only God can offer in such a painful time.

Divorce Recovery: Tears and Laughter

Last week, he could hardly say his name without crying. The tears welled up in his eyes every time he tried to talk. He asked if it was “normal” that he tried to pray, but God seemed not to hear; that he felt so empty inside. I told him it was normal and to keep praying, because God is very near to the brokenhearted. This week, he said, “I think I am starting to get a little better. I laughed a couple of times tonight!”

There is laughter and there are tears. They laughed at themselves and some of the dumb things a person does during stressful times. And they cried again when I reminded them tonight how very much God loves them. I told them how my pastor prayed for me the day I went to court–that God “would wrap his loving arms around me and hold me close.”…

Divorce Recovery: A Place of Hope

There were 22 in divorce recovery these past eight weeks.

We saw the tears in their eyes, heard their “Why?” and “Will I ever trust anyone again?” questions. We told them we were glad they had come. And we told them how very much God loved each one of them. We told them that God is near to the brokenhearted.

We told them because we know it is true.

Touching the hurting and telling them of God’s love through Divorce Recovery is the closest I have ever come to understanding what Jesus did when he walked this earth as he preached the good news and healed the sick and hurting.

God bless them, every one. May all 22 of them find hope in their despair. Forest Park is a place of hope.

We told them because we know it is true.
