Day One in Haiti

Wow, what a crazy day. Our goal on day one was to get from Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic to Fond Parisien, Haiti.

We started off by leaving Santo Domingo about 45 minutes later than we wanted to. Jacky, who is our contact on the ground here in Haiti, was not very familiar with Santo Domingo. So Mark used his maps application on his iPhone to navigate, and I drove. We made it out of Santo Domingo without too much trouble.

We stopped in Bani, which was about one hour into our trip, to get some breakfast. Everyone had chicken fingers and french fries from Pollo Rey (King Chicken). While we ate, the alarm on the car would randomly go off. Although we didn’t know how to use the clicker, because it was not clearly marked, we could always get the alarm to stop. When we were ready to leave,…

Haiti Here We Come

Saturday, February 13, at 2:30 am we start our journey to Haiti. Our team consists of Dr. Don Cotton, Dr. Ty Adcock, P.A. Ian Miller, Pastor Mark Dinwiddie and Pastor Brock Cummins. Although there are many questions left unanswered, we are excited about what God has in store for each of us. We believe God is going to use this team to do a great work in Haiti. We are trusting God to open the doors for a future partnership while we are there. We are scheduled to be back in Joplin late Saturday, February 20.

Please pray for:

  • Our medical team. Pray they would not grow weary doing good as they will be serving in some difficult situations.
  • Wisdom and discernment as we seek a local church to partner with during the next several months.
  • God to be glorified in Haiti.

Medicines donated by 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 10 will be taken to Haiti by our “assessment team” on Saturday, February 13. Medicines donated after Wednesday, February 10 will be taken to Haiti by future teams.

Haiti Update

I would like to thank you for your patience as we continue to investigate how God would have us serve in Haiti. I have been encouraged and amazed by the response that we have received from those who would like to help meet the needs of Haiti.

We have had over 90 people express an interest in helping in Haiti by going and/or giving. My desire is that through this horrible tragedy a country that was once known for poverty and voodoo will become known as a shining light for Jesus.

Here is a brief update of what is happening at Forest Park along with some future plans:

  1. We are sending a team to Fond Parisien, Haiti to investigate a possible partnership. There is a Christian Hospital in Fond Parisien and there are many refugees leaving Port-au-Prince heading to this area. The team consists of Dr. Don Cotton, Dr. Ty…
